What does this have to do with a drinking game?

In the end, Drunk & Board is just a silly drinking game. Yet we recognize and urge all of our players to consider the privilege of having friends to play with and a roof to play under. We believe that life is all about helping others whenever you can, that is why we are committed to donating 10% of all profits.

The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter does not endorse our product or promote alcohol consumption in any way. Instead, our donations are simply gestures of solidarity to support their worthy cause.
  • The stigma between homelessness and alcohol.

Despite the common stereotype, the majority of people experiencing homelessness do not have a drug or alcohol problem. The broad stigmatization of substance use disregards factors like the rising cost of living, social determinants of health, intergenerational poverty, insufficient mental health services, mass incarceration, and systemically racist practices like redlining. To truly help our unhoused neighbors, it’s essential to challenge the mischaracterization and stigma of substance use.

  • Giving back to the community that inspired it all.

Drunk & Board was founded in New Orleans and is influenced heavily by the city's vibrant culture of connection and community. We are committed to giving back to this community that we love. In New Orleans, homelessness increased by 15% and family homelessness soared by 62% in one year, as of 2023. Women, children, families, and single father-led families are especially vulnerable and need more than just a room. They need a comprehensive system of support that sets them on a journey to self-sustaining success. The New Orleans Women and Children's Shelter fills this very need.

  • In the end, it feels good to do good.

We urge our community to be conscious consumers. Deliberately choose products that support important causes and are committed to fostering positive change on both a local and global scale. By directing purchasing power towards socially responsible brands, individuals contribute to the well-being of communities in need. As a small business, Drunk & Board is committed to adopting ethical practices from the very beginning. We hope one day all businesses will incorporate philanthropy into their models from the start.

Meet the

New Orleans Women and Children's Shelter

The New Orleans Women & Children’s Shelter traces its beginning to a rudimentary women’s facility opened immediately after Hurricane Katrina. There was an immediate need for food, shelter and security, and we rose to meet the challenge—protecting women and children and keeping them together. They serve families from diverse backgrounds, including women over the age of 18 and their children, single father-led and intact families, and women in all stages of their pregnancy. They keep them safe and secure in a family-friendly shelter environment and provide tools to help them achieve ongoing stability and success.
